D. Craig Brater Professor of Global Health Education
Debra Litzelman, M.D. has transformed medical education at Indiana University School of Medicine. During her years as Associate Dean for Medical Education and Curricular Affairs, she was instrumental in the development of the school's Educational Relative Value Unit System, a system that serves as the central faculty evaluation tool. She was also active in the medical school's Relationship-Centered Care Initiative, which focused on transforming the learning environment at the medical school.
Litzelman's current roles as Associate Director for the Center for Health Services Research and senior research scientist at the Regenstreif Institute focus on interprofessional education and practice, workforce development, and patient centered health care practices. She is the Principal Investigator on a $1.5 million NIH Behavioral and Social Science Integrated Curricular Training Grant. Litzelman is also the co-investigator for a CMS-funded project to expand the Aging Brain Center collaborative care model.
Litzelman has been a professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine since 1989. She is the 1996 recipient of the Frederic Bachman Lieber Distinguished Teaching Award.
