These are residential training opportunities which prepare participants to work with issues currently facing higher education. The first one is held in Denver, Colorado in June and the second on the campus of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania in July. They also now offer a year-long weekend institute on the campus of Wellesley College. The institute seeks to improve the status of women in the middle and executive levels of higher education administration. Click here to learn more.
IUPUI has sent 59 women faculty and staff members to this prestigious institute since 1987. More than half of those women continue to work at IUPUI in leadership capacities. It is a wonderful opportunity to prepare for administrative leadership positions and develop a national and international network of colleagues plus focus on your professional development. Any full-time faculty or staff member may apply for the IUPUI funding.
The Office for Women coordinates the application process for campus funding for candidates to this national training. Current HERS summer institute alums on campus screen candidates and make recommendations regarding the selection to the Executive Vice Chancellor. Once a candidate has been selected, the Office for Women will assist the candidate in completing the online application and gathering the appropriate recommendation letters.
